Description of classes

Beginning Aikido Classes

Open to students off all levels.
In these classes the focus is on building familiarity with a variety of techniques and the development of Aikido basics.

In these classes there is a strong emphasis on refinement of posture, footwork, hand movements and body alignment as well as proper ukemi (falling/receiving).

Aiki Weapons Classes

In these classes the focus is on building familiarity with a variety of jo (staff) and bokken (sword) techniques and the development of Aiki Weapons basics.

In these classes there is a strong emphasis on refinement of posture, footwork, hand movements and body alignment.

The classes follow a systematic progression from individual practice (suburi and kata (form)) to working with a partner (awase (one-step blending exercises), kumi (partner practice) and bukidori (weapon taking)).
